What it is, what to expect, how the schedule works, and tips to help your family enjoy the Jamboree.
The Jamboree is MYL’s big end-of-season lacrosse event in Devens, with teams from across Massachusetts playing throughout the day.
For most families, it feels part tournament, part festival, and part team celebration. It can be busy the first time, but the goal is simple: play lacrosse, enjoy the day, and wrap up the season together.
No. It’s a fun end-of-season event, where each team plays 3 games against unfamiliar teams.
There may be scores, schedules, and opponents, but the spirit of the day is participation and celebration.
Families should expect competitive games, but not a playoff-style environment.
Hundreds of MYL boys & girls teams from across Massachusetts attend, along with coaches, parents, siblings, and volunteers.
That means the site can feel crowded, especially around parking, food, bathrooms, and field walkways. Plan for a big youth sports event with lots of moving parts.
Sting always submits our teams, grades 3/4 and above. But the event does fill up, so there have been years where not every Sting team could participate.
In cases where Sting teams have multiple teams at the same grade level, we often merge to become one team for Jamboree day.
Each team gets 3 game times and field assignments. Coaches will share the final schedule when MYL releases it.
Games may be spread out with downtime in between. It is normal to have a gap, typically 45 minutes between games.
Families should plan for waiting, walking, snacking, and hanging out between games.
At least 30 minutes before your first game! Plan to arrive earlier than you would for a normal game, especially if this is your first Jamboree.
Parking, walking to the fields, finding your team, and getting players geared up all take extra time. Your coach will give a team-specific arrival target.
You may not have time, but there are no hard restrictions.
Most often, the gap between games is not long enough to leave and come back.
Please coordinate with your your team’s coaches about schedule and instructions.
Yes. Expect a busy youth sports complex with lots of teams, families, tents, gear, and foot traffic.
The best approach is to arrive early, keep your schedule handy, and assume everything takes a little longer than usual — especially waiting in line for food!
It can be confusing the first time, especially finding fields and figuring out where to meet.
That is normal. Once you find your field and team area, the day starts to feel much easier. Coaches will help direct families as schedules and field assignments become clear.
The vibe is energetic, busy, and fun. Kids usually love seeing so many teams and players in one place.
Families should expect a full-day youth sports atmosphere: lots of lacrosse, lots of walking, and lots of tired kids by the end.
Food options are usually available on site, but families should still bring snacks and water.
Lines can get long at peak times. Packing your own basics makes the day easier, especially for younger players and siblings.
There is always downtime between games, so bring things that help your family settle in comfortably.
Players often hang out with teammates. Siblings may need snacks, shade, or something simple to do while waiting.
Breaks between games are typically 45 minutes long, and that includes walk time from field to base camp and back to the next field.
The breaks will feel very short!
Of course! Families are welcome, but plan for a long and busy day outdoors.
Bring water, sunscreen, snacks, and something to keep younger siblings comfortable between games.
The MYL Fan Zone has games and attractions, but downtime is limited — most of the day is spent on the field or sidelines!
Where to go, when to arrive, what to bring, and other important details to navigate Jamboree day.
Game schedules are released a few weeks before the event. Coaches will share exact game times, field numbers, and arrival instructions once available.
Because schedules can change, use the latest update from your coach as the source of truth.
See below for an example Jamboree schedule from 2025.
Each team has three games. Each game has a number. Next to your team name you will find the three game numbers.
To find out when and where each of those games are, please see the chart at the top of the schedule.
Plan for at least a half day, especially if your team has longer gaps between games.
Exact length depends on your team’s assigned schedule. Some teams may be there for a shorter window; others may have games spread out.
Typical schedules may follow patterns similar to these:
Morning Session
Afternoon Session
Coaches will provide updates if weather becomes an issue.
Bring layers, rain gear, sunscreen, and extra water so you are ready for changing June weather.
MYL offers these explanations for weather policies:
The Jamboree is held on Rogers Field in Devens each year.
GPS Address: 37 Buena Vista Street, Devens, MA 01434
Use the event directions provided by MYL:
Sting sets up a ‘tent city’ / base camp, typically on Sherman Ave, near Buena Vista Rd. Best nearby parking lots are B & C.
Parking can be one of the trickiest parts of the day. Arrive early and expect a walk from your car to the fields.
Leave extra time, especially if your player needs help carrying gear or if you are bringing chairs, tents, or coolers.
~90 minutes before game time. Build in extra time for traffic, parking, walking, and finding the team.
Players must arrives at least 30 minutes before their first game. Please allow ample travel time, plus extra time to find parking and get settled at Sting base camp.
Given travel time from the Ashburnham/Westminster area to Devens, plus parking and getting settled, plan on leaving home ~90 minutes before your first game.
Field numbers and maps are shared a few weeks before the event. Save the map on your phone before you arrive.
Cell service may be spotty or slow when the site is crowded, so a screenshot can be helpful.
Your coach will tell families where and when players should meet before the first game.
Look for Sting teams, coaches, and tents, at our designated base camp.
Sting ‘tent city’ / base camp is typically on Sherman Ave, near Buena Vista Rd.
Players should bring full equipment, uniform, stick, mouthguard, protective gear, cleats, water, and any goalie gear if applicable.
Pack like a normal game day, then add extra water, snacks, and weather protection.
Follow Devens and MYL event rules for packing restrictions.
Tent poles, pets, and grills are the most common restrictions, in addition to the standards like alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, and other substances.
Devens/MYL are the final authority on specific restrictions. Please see MYL’s rules & restrictions page.
Simple ways to make Jamboree day all fun and no stress!
Shade makes the day much easier, especially during long gaps between games.
Many Sting families bring pop-up tents. Even a small shaded spot helps tired players reset.
Coaches will coordinate packing lists with their teams to cover all the bases.
Bring more water than you think you need. June days can get hot, and players burn through water quickly.
A refillable bottle plus backup water in a cooler can save the day. Most families/teams will bring Gatorade or similar drinks, as well. But water is required for games
There will be downtime, so pack for comfort, not just lacrosse.
Chairs, snacks, sunscreen, and a low-key activity for siblings can make the day feel much smoother.
Players will typically have 45 minutes off between games.
Screenshot the schedule, field map, parking info, and coach messages before you leave.
That way you are not stuck searching through emails or apps while walking through a crowded complex.
The easiest way to reduce stress is to arrive early.
You will need time to park, walk, find the field, find the team, and help your player get settled.
Sting will designate a meeting spot / team near the playing fields.
All Sting teams playing that day will use the team meetup spot as the team and family home base.
We’ll merge our tents and coolers/tables in this area so we have a comfortable place to recharge between games.
This helps if people split up for food, bathrooms, or sibling breaks.
Make sure players eat before the first game and have snacks available between games.
Hot, tired, hungry kids melt down fast. Simple snacks and steady hydration help a lot.
Bring extra socks, a backup mouthguard if you have one, and a change of clothes for the ride home.
Wet grass, heat, and long days can make small gear issues feel bigger than they are.
Tell players the day may be busy, loud, and a little chaotic, but also fun.
Remind them to stay with the team, listen to coaches, and enjoy playing with their friends.
Not necessarily. Families usually follow their team’s schedule and coach instructions.
Some teams may finish earlier than others. Once your team is done, your coach will tell players when they are free to leave.
Generally yes. Players should arrive ready or nearly ready to play several games.
Players (and parents!) can usually relax between games, but there is not enough time in between games to change clothes— wait until after!
Bring layers or a change of clothes if your player gets hot, muddy, or tired.
Start with your coach or team parent if you are unsure about schedule, fields, or meeting spots.
Everyone understands that the Jamboree is a lot the first time. Asking early is better than guessing.
